Apps I build with AI.

Side projects, separate from my professional work at Yale — built on my own time, using AI as a pair programmer to solve real problems at home. Each write-up is honest about what the AI handled and what I directed and decided.

Apps I've built with AI

Weekly Budget Tracker

  • React
  • LocalStorage
  • Charts

Problem: I wanted a fast way to track spending by week without a subscription app or a spreadsheet I'd never open.

Approach: A single-page app that logs expenses, buckets them by category, and shows a weekly summary with a simple chart.

What I directed
Data model, category logic, UX flow, edge cases (partial weeks, edits), and final review of every change.
What AI handled
Boilerplate components, chart wiring, and first-draft functions I then tested and refined.

Baby Tracker

  • React
  • PWA
  • Offline-first

Problem: Getting ready for our first baby, my wife and I knew we'd need a shared source of truth. Feeds, sleep, and diaper changes are easy to lose track of at 3 a.m., and "when was the last feeding?" is a hard question to answer from memory. Once daycare entered the picture, the problem grew: we needed to compare what happened at home with what happened during the day to spot real patterns. Also again, we did not want yet another subscription.

Approach: An offline-first PWA with big tap targets, timestamped logs, and a daily view to spot patterns.

What I directed
The whole interaction design for tired hands, offline data strategy, and privacy (everything stays on-device).
What AI handled
Service-worker setup, state management scaffolding, and repetitive UI code.
